J.Crew Opens crewcuts Store at The Westchester ... The clothes you love ... (slightly smaller)

July 13, 2006 at 5:06 PM EDT

WHITE PLAINS, N.Y., July 13 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- J.Crew announces the arrival of the new crewcuts store located at The Westchester in White Plains, NY. The long awaited children's store will be officially open to welcome Moms and Dads, on Saturday, July 15th, 2006. This new jewel box store is the second freestanding crewcuts boutique, closely following the launch of crewcuts in April.

The introduction of crewcuts comes in response to the most frequent request from J.Crew's loyal clients -to dress their children, too. After a brief glimpse in 2001, J.Crew officially brought crewcuts back last holiday season with a limited edition line of cashmere sweaters. From the enormous response, J.Crew decided to move forward with a full collection and introduced crewcuts for boys and girls, ages 2 through 8.

Crewcuts represents a playful take on the adult J.Crew collection, without sacrificing the same great quality or signature J.Crew "Classics with a Twist" style. "We are going after a J.Crew style that our customers really love for themselves and want for their kids. Until now, we feel that the kids market has been missing a certain sophistication, price and quality that we hope to provide," says Millard Drexler, Chairman and CEO of J.Crew.

Created for parents looking for well-made children's clothing at friendlier prices (and knowing how hard it is to find), crewcuts features the best J.Crew items ... only smaller. The collection will continue to offer high quality and styling, including everything from a colorful collection of cashmere sweaters to the perfect vintage washed tees and even beautiful dressed up items for flower girls and ring bearers. Crewcuts highlights the younger elements of the J.Crew personality and incorporates all of the iconic items the company is famous for, including washed patchwork madras and argyle, as well as broken-in and lightweight chino. Children (and parents) will love the brighter colors, critter embroideries and graphics featured on crewcuts items. One warning to all shoppers - shop early, there are limited quantities available!

Following the success of the first freestanding crewcuts store, which opened May 2nd in NorthPark Center in Dallas, TX, the highly anticipated Westchester store will feature the entire crewcuts collection, including shoes and accessories. The store will closely resemble a New England seaside cottage - complete with a miniature lighthouse and white wainscoting throughout. A beachy feel resonates throughout the store with the fresh sky blue and bright green color schemes, blond hardwood floors and brightly colored upholstered benches. In celebration of the grand opening, there will be a special gift with every purchase, while supplies last.

As families walk through the store, they are invited to "Meet Henry", J.Crew's favorite stuffed pet Labrador puppy. A whimsical wall display of "Henrys," each colorfully dressed in J. Crew fabrics, represent some of "Henry's" playful personalities; including "Palm Beach Henry", "Clambake Henry", "Crazy-Critter Henry", "Nantucket Henry" and "School-Boy Henry" ~ timed just right for back-to-school shopping.

Currently, crewcuts is available in ten "shop-in-shop" J.Crew locations around the country (Greenwich, CT - Tysons Galleria, VA - Westport, CT - Southdale, MN - SouthPark, NC - Pasadena, CA - Fashion Valley, San Diego, CA - The Atrium in Chestnut Hill, MA - Oakbrook, IL - Corte Madera, CA).

The crewcuts full service website is accessible at www.jcrew.com.
